A Guide To Make The Perfect Espresso

The US National Coffee Association has registered espresso consumption, which has reached an all-time high, and it is on its way to the top. This growing popularity has created the need for the perfect espresso to start the day and get rid of the morning blues. However, it is difficult to find the right espresso for you, because each cafe has its own odds, which it follows.

So for most of you, making it at home might be a better choice! And we are here to help you.

     Dosage

It is usually measured in grams and ideally falls between 14 and 24 grams. This wide range is due to the fact that different levels of roasting require different amounts of coffee. For example, darker roasting would require less coffee than lighter roasting to get the same flavor strength. It also depends on the size of your portafilter basket.

     Profitability

The next thing you need to consider is the amount of water to add. Usually, with espresso the recommended ratio of coffee to water is 1: 2. The ideal espresso with 20 grams of dry coffee should have  40 grams of water. More water would weaken the taste and less would give it a very bitter taste, so this is just the right amount to give out the perfect taste.

     Time prepared

The third factor to consider is the brewing time. It varies depending on the color of the roast. A range of 20-35 seconds is usually recommended, just like darker roasts, the flavor is easier to get because they are shallower so we can cook it in about 25 seconds. Each coffee has an ideal sweet place in terms of cooking time. If you cook it for too long, it becomes bitter; leave it too little and the taste will not be enough depth. This phase requires some experimental work, but once a sweet spot is identified, it is much easier to refine.

Find The Right Coffee Beans For A Cold Brew

Nowadays, all rage is cold brewing. They become an even more attractive option on a hot summer day, when this refreshing push awakens us. It has a very light level of bitterness, which highlights the finest taste of coffee beans. So if you thought it was just hot-brewed coffee served with ice, you have a lot to learn! To get this amazing taste, it is prepared not only with room temperature water, but also with different types of beans.

Type Of Coffee Beans

     Roast options

One of the most important things to consider when looking for the best coffee beans for your cold brew is the degree of roasting chosen. There are three levels available in the market: light, medium and dark roast. In such cases, dark roast is preferred, because it has a very rich taste, which can even be colored with chocolate, nut or ground flavor. Another reason is that they are more affordable and take less time for extraction.

     Grind

You should be very careful when choosing the size of the coffee grinder, or these whole coffee beans would not be fully appreciated. Most people believe that the coarse grind setting will help in better extraction. However, this increases the cooking time and complicates the extraction process, as the solvent needs more time to emit flavors.

     Age of beans

This is not a big concern for us, cold coffee brewers. Some soluble coffee elements are not extracted during cold brewing, so it would produce a great drink even with aged beans, because these faded aromas would not have been obtained in the first place.

So when you go to buy coffee for your cold drink, you need to consider all these factors! We, Java Joes, want to help you with your decision. We offer a variety of coffees for all your caffeine needs and even use it to help local communities fund their causes with best fundraising ideas. That cup of freshly brewed coffee is what keeps most of us going every day. However, other than keeping us recharged , it offers numerous other health benefits. But , that’s not it! Even coffee leftovers can be turned into something useful. There are some clever companies who have clashed in on this idea already and you can as well ; since our coffee consumption is an all-time high and we have plenty of it to use. Here is a list of ideas that have been used to recycle coffee grounds and give them a new life.  Go through it and perhaps you’ll find something you’d like to do as well.

  • ·         Art - Leftover coffee grounds can be used as an alternative option for paint. This will not only help you save on the cost but also serve as a hack for the artists out there who like to experiment with their paintings.
  • ·         Clothing -  The leftover coffee grounds can also be used to make yarn , which can then be converted into fabrics with deodorizing properties. These fabrics will even resist UV rays and work surprisingly for athletes.
  • ·         Environment -  Coffee remains can also be used to capture carbon from the environment and decrease a great degree of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.  This is achieved by steeping the remains in a solution of potassium hydroxide and heating then mixture , stirring it and then drying it. It is heated to very high temperatures to attain its carbon-bonding properties.
  • ·         Mushrooms – You could grow mushrooms and start a farm in less than two minutes by using coffee grounds as a base for your fungus. It takes a couple of weeks for the batch to grow and the same grounds can be used multiple times for various batches of mushrooms.
